According to the German "Economic Weekly" report, Europe's largest perfume chain Douglas is considering entering the Chinese market. In addition to operating perfumes, the Group also operates cosmetics and jewellery businesses. Its pre-tax profit for fiscal year 2005/06 increased by 8.4% year-on-year to EUR 129 million, and its turnover increased by 10.9% to nearly EUR 2.7 billion. Henning Kreke, chairman of the group, stated that at the end of the 05/06 fiscal year, the Douglas Group had 937 stores in 18 European countries, of which 504 were abroad. He also revealed that the group will enter the Greek market and is considering entering China, India and the United Arab Emirates and other fast-growing countries.
